Liquid Lightshows

One of our subject areas are liquid light shows, a psychedelic art form and music visualization, that originated in the mid-1960s. We use projectors to project moving liquids onto screens, buildings and alternative surfaces. We have developed a variety of techniques for making liquids react with one another.

Various transparent liquids, such as water-based paints and colored oils, slowly poured into rotating petri dishes. By rotating the glass bowls, the colors mix, flow into one another and separate again. Another technique are so-called "heatslides", in which liquids between thin glass panes are brought to a boil using heat and thus seem to move rhythmically to the music. In combination with prisms and mirrors, it becomes a very special kind of light show.
