WELCOME and DIVE into the WORLD of MEZKALIN
The first pieces dropped in 2019, but the creative roots of this project run much deeper. MEZKALIN is the culmination of over two decades of artistic exploration, experimentation, and evolution.
It all began in the teenage years with street art, followed by a journey into epoxy resin and woodcraft under the name WOODROSE. These creations—ranging from abstract resin art to intricate wooden pieces—offered space for open interpretation and emotional connection. WOODROSE also ventured into liquid light shows, using projectors and large screens to create psychedelic, rotating visuals that transported audiences into surreal realms.
The visual journey continued with LED-illuminated Snoozle pictures and wooden motif artworks, blending craftsmanship and illumination in unique ways. WOODROSE’s work was featured at multiple light festivals, including shows in Dortmund and Murten, Switzerland, just before the world hit pause with the arrival of the pandemic.
And then came a new chapter.
MEZKALIN was born—not from a plan, but from pure curiosity, in a basement during lockdown. It all started with an old 80s mainboard. By instinctively connecting two points on the board, the screen flickered to life, and GLITCH ART was born.
From that moment, MEZKALIN dove deep into experimentation. With no formal training, but thousands of hours of self-taught practice, JANES DE MüR transformed obsolete electronics into living, breathing art.
MEZKALIN is now recognized as one of Europe's pioneering glitch artists, known for bold, expressive designs on retro hardware—where technology meets chaos, and beauty is found in distortion.
